Titanic Drawing Scene Haunts Kate Winslet Almost 17 Years After Titanic Movie

titanic-drawing-scene-rose-drawingIn 1997, the James Cameron movie Titanic came out. There had been a lot of hype surrounding the movie, and finally after more than one delay, the movie was finally released. The movie starred Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, and was an instant box-office success. The majority of the movie was carried by Kate Winslet, and one of the most memorable scenes in the movie is when her character Rose DeWitt Bukater wants to have her picture drawn in the nude wearing only a very expensive piece of jewelry.

Kate Winslet’s Most Infamous Scene

Kate Winslet had to be naked in front of her co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio, and she did things to try and make them both at ease. When it came time to film the scene, she opened her robe and flashed her nude body to DiCaprio, which made him laugh, which was a great way for the two of them to lift that veil of tension they were both feeling.  Once it was time to film, Winslet was able to drop her robe, and the Titanic drawing scene began. Though Winslet was in great shape, and actually did look amazing in the scene, but it was definitely not an easy scene to do, and her nervousness was apparent in it.

Kate Winslet Does Not Sign Autographs of That Particular Photo

kate-winslet-nude-scene-from-titanic-3Over the course of her career in the movies, Kate Winslet has been in a number of movies, and she has been asked to sign a lot of images from her various movies. However, Winslet does not mind signing things for her fans, but when it comes to the famous Titanic drawing, that is one image that she does not like to sign and will tell fans that she does not sign that image. What fans need to understand is that Kate Winslet refusing to sign the nude drawing of herself is not because she has an ego or wants to be mean, but the fact is that signing her very own nude picture actually does make the Oscar-winning actress feel embarrassed. Can anyone blame Kate Winslet? While Titanic is the second biggest movie in the world, and billions of people have seen Kate Winslet in the nude, it does not make it any easier on the actress or spare her the embarrassment of having her own nude picture put in her face for her to sign.

The Most Famous Image of Kate Winslet Ever

kate-winslet-nude-scene-from-titanic-4What is it about the Titanic drawing scene that everyone loves? Is it the fact that a young woman is asserting her independence and doing what she wants, which is to have a young artist draw her in the nude with only a huge diamond necklace on? Is it the fact that Rose DeWitt Bukater was brave to be nude in front of a total stranger? Was it the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio makes the whole world believe that he is a talented artist? Whatever the reason, the iconic image that Jack Dawson creates is important in the movie because it is what leads Rose Calvert back to the world’s most famous ship, and to a part of her life that she probably forgot about. There would be no Titanic movie without the famous drawing of Rose DeWitt Bukater, and perhaps that is the main reason why that even almost 17 years later, Kate Winslet cannot get away from her famous Titanic drawing.  However, perhaps one day, Winslet will come to realize that not everyone in the world is lucky enough to have a hand drawn picture of themselves, and she may grow to love the drawing as much as the rest of the world does.

Almost 17 years after the box-office hit movie, Titanic has been released, the infamous nude drawing of Kate Winslet is still something that haunts the actress even to this day. While Winslet feels very uncomfortable with being asked to sign her own nude photo, fans need to understand her reasoning behind the decision to not sign that picture. Though whether Kate Winslet realizes it or not, the drawing made of her is a moment in time that will never be forgotten no matter how many years it has been since Titanic was released.  Perhaps one day, Kate Winslet will look at the lovely drawing, smile, take out her pen, and happily sign it.
